Coverage

Fetch has already published a New Jersey form written for the 2027 law (GPTM 050 PML NJ 0326 A, sample dated 21 September 2026): no wait for accidents, 15 days for illness, 30 days for orthopedic conditions, and a 30-business-day refund. Its pre-existing definition goes one step past the statute: it also counts anything found at the pet's first exam, which can take place after the start date (within 30 days, or as soon as possible after that). Curable conditions from the year before enrollment are excluded for a year and then need an annual vet exam to be covered; a second recurrence excludes them for life. Coverage can be raised only at renewal and only if you have never filed a claim. After more than 50 paid claims Fetch may withdraw a promotional discount and offer lower coverage. Renewing a dog aged 8 or older or a cat aged 10 or older requires following the vet's advice on senior wellness tests. Prescription food is excluded. Claims are paid to the policyholder. The state regulator also lists XL Specialty Insurance Company for Fetch. No New Jersey rate filing has been read.

History

  1. Clarified the California loss ratio: the 1.126 development factor applies to losses only (1.000 for defense and cost-containment expense), which gives 61.8%
  2. Added BBB and Trustpilot ratings checked on 13 October 2026
  3. Corrected the California loss-ratio statement: the +12.9% was set on the rate template's adjusted ratios (74.8%, 71.8%, 74.5%) for years ending 30 June, not on the raw 55-65% ratios. Marked the rate manual and the optional exclusion endorsements as California sources, clarified the prior-claims thresholds, the deductible options and the Florida 50-claim rule, and removed the pro about puppies and the age-at-inception factor.
  4. First published from California filing 25-2417 and the Florida sample policy GPTM 050 FL 1125 A
