Pets Best is administered by Pets Best Insurance Services, LLC and underwritten in New Jersey by Independence American Insurance Company.

Coverage

The New Jersey sample booklet (IAIC-PB10001-ILL) has waiting periods of 3 days for injuries, 14 days for illness and 6 months for cruciate ligament injuries. From 1 January 2027 New Jersey bans accident waiting periods and caps orthopedic waits at 30 days, so this form has to change for policies issued from then on. Raising the annual limit or adding a rider ends the policy and starts a new one, with new waiting periods and a new pre-existing check. The state regulator lists Pets Best under both Independence American and American Pet Insurance Company (Trupanion's insurer). No New Jersey rate filing has been read.
