Pets Best Pet Insurance Washington Review
Pets Best is administered by Pets Best Insurance Services, LLC and underwritten in Washington by American Pet Insurance Company.
Coverage
In Washington Pets Best policies are written by American Pet Insurance Company, Trupanion's insurer, not by Independence American as in most other states. Trupanion says that relationship ends after the third quarter of 2028; what happens to Washington policies then is not public. The Washington endorsement (06/2025) sets 14 days for illness and 30 days for cruciate ligament conditions, with no wait for accidents; the base form underneath still shows 3 days for injuries and 6 months for cruciate. The waiver needs a vet to certify the pet's health on Pets Best's form, and the company 'may' grant it. The Washington disclosure on the website (edited 12/2023) excludes chronic conditions that showed before coverage and lists cruciate disease, atopy and hip dysplasia as chronic, a wider wording than the endorsement's. Raising the annual limit or adding a benefit means a new policy with new waiting periods and a new pre-existing check. Premiums change at renewal with age and the overall cost of care, with 30 days' notice; they do not change with your own claims. You have 30 days to return the policy.
